I replaced the mechanical points with an electronic trigger. I chose the Crane (updated Allison) system because it allows you to mount remotely, getting away from the heat in the engine compartment. I mounted the control box under the rear seat. I use the trigger to feed a J & S Safegard. The Safeguard is a digital ignition control with many features. So far I am using:
Individual Cylinder Knock Retard High Energy Inductive ignition with variable dwell
Two Rev Limiters for staging and top end
Cranking Retard: allows up to 20º retard then re-advances one degree per spark event.
Boost Retard - takes the place of the pressure retard can on the distributor.

The trigger is an optical wheel.
