To get access to the floor pan & substructure the front and rear suspension, linkage, etc. were removed. A wire wheel was used to remove all loose scale and powdery rust. There was a fair amount of rubberized undercoating system that had to be removed. With everything clean a visual inspection was made taking note of any suspicious areas. A hammer was used to tap the metal and listen for areas that may be weak and not solid. Even with a Western van, there was a couple of areas of rust /rot. The suspect area was cut back to solid metal and weld a repair piece in. After repairs the bare metal was prepared for paint & everything was coated with Zero-RUST encapsulant. It has 2000+ hour rating in ASTM B117 salt spray test. POR 15 is good for 1000+ hours in same test.
