"i have built 2 new complete powertrains this winter , now the coupe showed
me a burned wire harness when i got a closer look , so this week has been
a new handmade harness including extra stuff for my added "options" coming
soon,.adding a spyder dash salvaged from a really bad car , a new padded
dash , and other repairs and neat stuff.
i have decided , even if it sounds crass and the car is rare , i will
put it together as I want it . i will enjoy it , i doubt it will ever be a
real show car , but i am putting my own wire harness , spyder dash , and a
host of other "options / upgrades" on it to make it the way I want it.
We drove it @2500 miles with a "questionable?" motor last summer ,and had
lots of fun with it. the big push on the coupe is all about the fact it looks like the one i had
new in 1964.
the truck? well i built a new motor last winter for it and had a lot of
trouble adjusting valves. now after only building @100 motors that ran well
over the years , i was miffed. it turned out that the new OT10 cam i used
had a defect in the hardness of the lobes. so i did not enjoy the truck at
all last summer.
the new motor is a 140hp powerglide setup with 060 oversize cylinder /
pistons, specially worked over heads . new tranny and differential also. i
sure hope all this turns out ok. i have at least 2 other motors waiting for
deep hard repair work also.
so that is part of my story for now.
8 - 10 hour days are not enough.
if i live long enough , i will also put the lakewood back together."
